It uses Irish spruce as the example, but the method is the same for any species of timber.This next pellet mill video is from an American company, Buskirk Engineering, who make a range of small pellet mills, and a neat little hammer mill, in the USA. The four minute video demonstrates making pellets from wheat straw in one of their machines.
This ten minute video from MakePellets shows a number of their wood mills in action. PelletPros import the machines and fit them with American motors. Using a cement mixer to add water evenly is interesting, but I wouldn't use a mixer that has had cement in it. Any grit could really wear the dies out.
They also market hammer mills, coolers and dryers.On a larger scale,SPC, ( Sweden Power Chippers) make a range of presses from, 500 to 2000 pounds an hour, that are designed to automatically process waste sawdust from your factory into wood pellets. The only human involvement is in filling the bags and handling them when full.
